The question about a typical value is rather vague, and deliberately so, and the reason for asking why is to give you a chance to justify your answer. (A few took this to be an invitaiton to explain why people assigned that sort of a risk value to airplane flying. If this was an explanation that fit the observation and was logically consistent, it was accepted.) The sort of justificaiton I was looking for was that it was the mode, or approximately the average. Ranges of values were accepted as well.
