XServ Cluster Benchmarking

Introduction

The next generation Apple hardware and software are being tested here and in conjunction with ATS.  Soon our dedicated system will be replaced with this system.  In the mean time hardware and software specifications as well as benchmarks and projects operating on these developing systems are available below.

Hardware

• 1 Apple G4 dual 533 MHz (running Mac OS X 10.1 Server)

Computing Nodes

  • 512 K On-chip L2 Cache at 1 GHz
  • 2 MB DDR SRAM L3 Cache per processor
  • 133 MHz Bus
  • 1 x 60 GB HD w/ 2MB disk cache
  • 100 Mbit Ethernet, full duplexing network connection
