Graduate Minor in Statistics

In response to requests from a number of UCLA graduate students and faculty, the Department of Statistics has established a graduate minor in Statistics. This is not a degree administered by the UCLA graduate division, but a certificate issued by the Statistics department.

The minor requires that students pass each of following statistics courses with a grade of B- or better: M100a, 100b, 100c, 217a, and 217b (M120a and b can subsitute 217a and b if taken before Fall 2000). In addition, they must pass with a grade of B- or better at least one course from the list of "specialized advanced graduate courses" numbers 211-255.

It is possible to "double count" courses; if students use one or more of these courses counting towards the minor for an existing degree, these courses will still count toward the Statistics minor.

At the time they receive the certificate, students need to be enrolled in a graduate program in some UCLA department other than Statistics.

The faculty member in charge of the graduate minor is Richard Berk. You can ask him for more information or to enroll contact Dean Dacumos, our Student Affairs Officer at (310) 825-8430.
