Undergraduate Minor in Statistics beginning Spring 2004

To make it easier for students outside of the Physical Sciences to get into the undergraduate Statistics minor, in Spring 2004, there will be changes to the Statistics minor. We are offering Stat 34 in Spring, if you are interested in the minor. The new minor requirements, beginning in Spring will look as follows:

To enter the minor, students should have successfully completed one lower or upper division Statistics Department course with a letter grade, have an overall grade-point average of 2.0 or better, and file a petition with the undergraduate adviser in 8142A Math Sciences, (310) 206-3742.

Required Lower Division Courses (8 units):
Either Math 3B and Stat 34
or Math 31B and one of Stat 35 or Stat 34
or Math 32B and 33A

Required Upper Division Courses (28 units):
Statistics 100A and 100B or 110A and 110B
and CM120A and CM120B
and any 130 course,
and two additional statistics courses.

Statistics 199 may be applied toward a maximum of one of the additional two courses. Statistics 110AB and 100AB cannot both be applied towards minor requirements. A minimum of 20 units applied toward the minor requirements must be in addition to units applied toward major or minor requirements in any other department or program.

If you have any questions about the, please contact, Dean Dacumos at 8142A Math Sciences.
