Factors influencing mental health morbidity and treatment utilization among populations of minority sexual orientation

We are currently looking at the ways in which minority sexual orientation is associated with mental health and treatment utilization in the general population.  Our recent work has documented the role of social discrimination in generating mental health morbidity among lesbians, gay men, and bisexual women and men.

Social adversity and treatment utilization among Californians

We are gearing up to conduct a second statewide survey of mental health issues among Californians.  We are particularly interested in the contributions of the social environment to the psychological wellbeing of populations.  This project specifically looks at the ways in which individuals seek care for problems with substance abuse and how they are treated once they enter the health care system.
