Statistician, Continuing Lecturer at UCLA
About
Research: Dave Zes employs strategic thinking to create novel algorithmic solutions to unique problems. He is passionate about not just statically solving problems offline, but actualizing the technology to implement solutions for real-time use. Examples include the world’s first online scoring algorithm for Thurstonian forced-choice psychometric personality assessments, word cloud optimization for infographics, and psychometric profile/fit benchmarking. Dave was awarded patents for the latter two. He is currently working on a number of avocational projects, including collaboration with sports medical experts in forecasting future injury risk of athletes.
Pedagogy: Dave is devoted to bringing appreciation and execution of statistical and scientific methods to students. In his time at UCLA, he has greatly enjoyed and benefitted from expert mentors in General Education Foundation of Scientific Inquiry (GE FSI), and Peer-Assisted Reflections on Student Learning (PAROSL), and, of course, his colleagues.
