Engineers (4th ed), by D. C. Montgomery and G. C.
Runger.
(Both 3rd or 5th ed are okay; Lecture Notes available at UCLA bookstore.)
Grading Policy
Attendance and participation (Bonus: up to 2%)
Weekly Homework (10%): No Late Homework.
Midterm Exam 1 (20%): Monday, April 30 (week 5), 12-12:50pm.
Midterm Exam 2 (20%): Monday, May 21 (week 8), 12-12:50pm.
Final Exam (50%): Thursday, June 14, 2012, 11:30am-2:30pm.

Chapter 8. Statistical Intervals for a Single Sample.
Chapter 9. Tests of Hypotheses for a Single Sample.
Chapter 10. Statistical Inference for Two Samples.
Chapter 11. Simple Linear Regression and Correlation.
Chapter 12. Mutliple Linear Regression.
Chapter 13. Design and Analysis of Single-Factor Experiments: The
Analysis of Variance.
Chapter 14. Design of Experiments with Several Factors.
Chapter 15. Nonparametric Statistics.
Software: We will use R, free open-source statistical software that is quite
powerful and flexible. You are strongly encouraged to download
onto your own computer. TA will teach you how to use R. You can
download R at http://cran.stat.ucla.edu
Class attendance is required and
important for you to understand the materials, especially the
topics not from the textbook. The exams will include everything
taught in lectures and discussions.
