Midterm 2
They were better this time. The average was 62.3, standard deviation 20.9.
The median was a 68. I didn't prepare a grade distribution this time. If you
got below a forty, however, you should come see me.
If you have a postscript viewer (and one way to find out is just to
click on the next tag), you can view the histogram
of scores .

Midterm 1
Well, they could have been better. Much, much better. The average was around
40, the standard deviation 20, (roughly 95% of scores are within two
standard deviations of the average), and the median was 39 (so half the
scores were less than 39).
Students often ask for grades based on a single exam. Let me advise you:
your class grade is based upon all of your numerical scores, not
just on one exam. So its possible to get "two B's and an A", and still not
get the final grade you thought you would get, because of the weighting
scheme used. However, with this in mind, if I had to give you a final
grade today, the grade would be (roughly):
- 0-10
- F
- 10-30
- D
- 30-50
- C
- 50-70
- B
- 70-100
- A
If you have a postscript viewer, (one way to find out is to try this), you
can see a histogram for this exam.
