Data Sets

1. Class Data
This data set was collected the first day of class.  It has 7 variables:
Height (inches)
Weight (pounds)
Sex (m or f)
Smoke (0 == never, 1 == sometimes, 2 == regularly)
Drink (0 == never, 1 == sometimes, 2 == regularly)
Age (years)
Electricity: Answer to the question: "Do you personally believe there is an actual shortage of electricity in California, or not?"  Answers are y/n.  You can compare your class to an LA Times poll of California residents.

The data come in two forms.

The first is a text file with the variables separated by tabs.

The second is a stata file.  Clicking on this link will open stata (if it is installed on your computer) and load the data set.  At least that is the idea.

2. Baseball salaries
These data were collected from http://www.sportsline.com/mlb/index.html.  I download the 2001 salaries for 3 "local" baseball teams: The Dodgers (D), Angels (A), and Padres (P).
You can either view the text file,  or download the Stata file.
