The lab might be open at other times if instructors are present and

Bureau will be on campus these days and is interested in meeting students
interested in a careers with the Census in either applied or mathematical
Statistics. If you are interested, sign up at the career center or

HW 1: If you like, you
can turn in the last problem (the one that requires you use a computer)
in next Friday (Oct. 15).
Also, Problem #1 was mistakenly distributed without the
newspaper article that was mentioned in the problem. And now I can't
find the article. But you can answer most of the questions pretty
well without it. (Part f seems to be particularly impossible to answer
without the article.) Do your best.

The iLab on the 9th floor of Boelter Hall is now available for homework
Monday through Thursday, 5-9pm.
ActivStats now available in the Bookstore. They shipped a different
version from the one we are using, but it contains instructions for "converting"
it to the correct version. If the package you purchase does not contain
these instructions, please see me.

November 5 is Midterm Day! Celebrate
by taking a practice midterm. this link includes both the questions
and the answers. The version with the questions only was given out
in class on Friday, Oct. 29. This midterm is from Spring '99, in
which we used a different book and covered slightly different material,
so you're midterm might be different.
