So far I couldn't find a better way to count the number of people in the crowd
than the taking photograph way. However, there might be a way to estimate the
number of people if we could have an area A of the shape of the crowd, a sample
area s (about 10 ft^2) in this shape, and a number n of people in this s area.
Then, the number of people will be (A/s)*n. There are some factors needed to
concern.
First, the area A can be calculated by taking photograph.
Second, I think we have to take some s areas (s1, s2, s3,..., s10), get 10
groups of people (n1, n2, n3,..., n10) respectively, and take the average of
these 10 groups in order to get more accurate number n.
There might be more factors that I can't think of right now. So please give
me some ideas about this. Thanks!
