Teaching Statistics Seminar

The seminar meets Thursdays, 5pm, on MS 6229.  UCLA Graduate students can enroll in Statistics 296 for 1 unit.  Attendance is then mandatory.

To date, the following speakers have agreed to participate.  Please contact Robert Gould (rgould@stat.ucla.edu) if you would like to speak.
 

Richard Rothstein, Occidental College.  Dr. Rothstein is a columnist for the New York Times specializing in math education issues.
Matthew Strand, UCLA.  Dr. Strand is adjunct assistant professor in the Department of Statistics.
Noel Enyady, UCLA.  Dr. Enyady is an assistant professor in the Department of Education specializing in how people learn probability.
Gretchen Davis, UCLA, Santa Monica City School District.  Ms. Davis is a recently retired AP Statistics teacher and is currently the UCLA Dept. of Statistics High School Teacher in Residence.

I've also invited Bill Finzer of Fathom Software, but have not yet heard.  I hope to have one Long Distance speaker as well.  (This is a speaker who has travelled a Long Distance to give the seminar.)
